MATERIAL: Preemie (Small Newborn) (Large Newborn)
  Preemie: 1 skein Bernat Baby Jacquard or Floral
  OR: 3.5 oz/346 yds 2 Ply soft acrylic yarn
  Small Newborn: 5 oz/395 yds 3 Ply soft acrylic yarn
  Large Newborn: 6 oz/315 yds 4 Ply soft acrylic yarn
  Sleep Sack: Circular Needle #6 (#6) (#8)
  Sleeves, hat & mittens: D. pointed Needles #5 (#6) (#7)
  2 stitch holders (or 2 piece of yarn)
  Tapestry needle
  6 buttons 5/8 (5/8) (1/2)
SLEEP SACK:  Knit neck down
 Cast on 48 sts *Jacquard or Floral Yarn, start with BEGINNING of skein*
1-5-Knit
6-   1st Button Hole (boy or unisex; K3, yo, K2TOG, K1, K to end of row) (girl; K to the last 6 sts, K1, K2tog, yo, K3)
7-   K6, P to the last 6 sts, K6
8-   K6, *k1, inc. 1 st in next st, repeat*, to the last 6 sts, k6 = 66 sts
9-   K6, P to the last 6 sts , K6
10- K6, *K2TOG, repeat* to the last 6 sts, K6
11- K6,*K1, K1 between*, to the last 6 sts, K6 (Eyelet row)
12- K6,*k2, inc. 1 st in next st, repeat*, to the last 6 sts, K6 = 84 sts
13-14-15- (same as 9-10-11-)
16- K6,*k3, inc. 1 st in next st, repeat*, to the last 6 sts, K6 =102 sts

Bind off all sts.
SLEEVES: *Jacquard or Floral Yarn; For matching sleeves measure yarn of the 1st sleeve from beginning to 1st change of color*
1st Sleeve
-Slip sleeves 33 sts from holder to 3 double pointed needles (11-11-11)
-Underarm, pick up 2 sts each sides (strings between stitches)(13-11-13) = 37 sts
-Keep a 4" tail, start at armpit right facing you, K2Tog through the back loop, K2Tog, Knit until the last 4 sts, K2Tog, K2Tog through the back loop = 33 sts
-Stockinette (all knit) for 18 more rounds.
-K9, K2tog, around = 30 sts
-K2tog around = 15 sts
-P1 between, P1, around = 30 sts (Eyelet row)
-K4, K2tog, around = 25 sts
-knit 1 round
-knit 1 round, P 1 round, 2 times
-knit 1 round
-cast off in purl
2nd Sleeve *Jacquard or Floral Yarn Measure the same # of inches from the change of color, cut yarn*
-Work as first sleeve
FINISHING SLEEP SACK
Sleeves;  Sew a couple of stitches underarm with tail, weave all ends.
Sleeping bottom; Fold bottom edge in half, right sides together, and put a marker to the center stitch. Keeping right sides together lay your work flat and fold front edges over the marker, the button HOLES band in the middle.  Pin in place.  Sew stitches bottom, catching all three layers in middle. Turn on right side and sew edge (for +- 1”) in front to the 6th button hole.
Sew buttons.
HAT AND MITTENS
* Jacquard or Floral Yarn; Start with END of skein*
HAT
-Cast on loosely 52 sts (16-20-16)
-Ribs; knit 2 sts, purl 2 sts for 8 rounds.
-Knit 2 rounds
-*K2tog around*= 26 sts
-*P1 between, P1*= 52 sts (Eyelet row)
-Work in stockinette (all knit) for 21 rounds
Shape crown:
*K 7, K2tog, K 7, K2tog, K8* repeat 1 time = 48 sts
K6, k2tog around  = 42 sts
K5, k2tog around  = 36 sts
K4, k2tog around  = 30 sts
K3, k2tog around  = 24 sts
K2, k2tog around  = 18 sts
K1, k2tog around  = 12 sts
K2tog around = 6 sts
Cut yarn leaving a tail (4 inches) and thread tail through the remaining stitches, one at a time, and take them off the knitting needle.
Pull tail tight by the inside of the work, turn work on wrong side.  Secure tails by making a knot with the darning needle.  Weave in ends.
MITTENS *Jacquard or Floral Yarn; Matching the pattern, separates the balance of skein in two*
-Cast on loosely 24 sts (8-8-8)
-Ribs; knit 2 sts, purl 2 sts for 6 rounds.
-Knit 2 rounds
-K2tog around= 12 sts
-P1 between, P1 around= 24 sts (Eyelet row)
-Work in stockinette for 15 rounds
Decrease;
K2, K2Tog = 18 sts
K1, K2Tog = 12 sts
K2Tog = 6 sts
Cut yarn leaving a tail (4 inches) and thread tail through the remaining stitches, one at a time, and take them off the knitting needle.
Pull tail tight by the inside of the work, turn work on wrong side.  Secure tails by making a knot with the darning needle.  Weave in ends.
Stitch explanation
-Increase “inc. 1 st in next st”; knit the stitch as usual, but don’t slip it off the needle. Now knit in the back of the same stitch
-K; knit

-P1 Between; insert right needle in back under loop, between P1 and next stitch, purl this stitch

Material:
-6 oz-4 ply soft acrylic yarn
-US Circular needles size #9
-1 sewing needle, 3 security pins and 5 buttons.

Abbreviations and explanation:
BH: Button Hole (Girl; At the beginning of row, the 5 first sts, K2, Yo, K2tog, K1, than *K2tog* across until last 5 sts, K5) (Boy or unisex; K5, *K2tog* across, until last 5 sts, K2, Yo, K2tog, K1)
K: Knit
K2tog: Knit 2 stitches together
Yo: yarn over
M1F: Make 1 stitch (One increase worked by lifting horizontal thread lying between needles and placing it onto left needle. Work this new stitch through the Front loop.)
M1B: Make 1 stitch (One increase worked by lifting horizontal thread lying between needles and placing it onto left needle. Work this new stitch through the Back loop.)

FINISHING HOOD:

Three Needle Bind-Off
Place stitches to be joined onto two separate needles, or split evenly the stitches in the circular needle two tips. Hold them with right sides of knitting facing together. *Insert a third needle into first stitch on each of the other two needles and knit them together as one stitch. Knit next stitch on each needle the same way. Pass first stitch over second stitch. Repeat from * until one stitch remains on third needle. Cut yarn and pull tail through last stitch.
OR: Bind off all sts. Fold hood on wrong side and sew.

FINISHING BOTTOM:
Fold bottom edge in half, right sides together, and mark the center stitch. Then lay it flat and fold front edges over, right still together, so they slightly overlap center stitch and each other; pin in place. Sew stitch bottom, catching all three layers in middle. Turn on right side and sew edge in front to the first button hole. Sew buttons. (If the button hole is too large for the button, thigh it by waving yarn in sts around hole.

For this bunting knit with 4 ply yarn;
.cut a 90" piece of yarn
.split this piece in two = 2 - 2ply pieces of yarn
.Leave a long tail = 22"
.Use crochet size H or smaller.
