-Double pointed needles size #8 and  #5

-1 darning needle

Using WHITE yarn

WITH NEEDLES #8 cast on loosely

CHANGE FOR NEEDLES #5

Rib; (Knit 1, Purl 1)

XS 4 (S 5) (M 6) (L 7)(XL 8) (NB 9) rounds

CHANGE FOR NEEDLES #8

Knit;

XS 3 (S 4) (M 5) (L 6) (XL 7) (NB 9)rounds

Change for RED yarn

KNIT;

XS 6 (S 8) (M 10) (L12) (XL 14) (NB 16) rounds

Decrease;   

*K4sts, K2Tog* around = XS 25 (S 30) (M 35) (L 40) (XL 45) (NB 50) stitches

Knit XS 5 (S 6) (M 7) (L 8) (XL 9) (NB 10) rounds

*K3sts, K2Tog* around = XS 20 (S 24) (M 28) (L 32) (XL 36) (NB 40) stitches

Knit XS 5 (S 6) (M 7) (L 8) (XL 9) (NB 10) rounds

TIP: On next round  knit stitches on 1 needle (instead of 2)

FOR XS, M and XL: K1, *K2 Tog* around = XS 3 (M 4) (XL 5) stitches

FOR S, L and NB: *K2Tog* around = S 3 (L 4) (NB 5) stitches

Cut yarn leaving a 5” tail and using the darning needle thread tail through the remaining stitches, one at a time, and take them off the knitting needle.

Pull tail inside, turn hat on wrong side tight and secure. Weave all ends. 

Turn cuff. Make a pompom. 5/13/13
