Strait OR Double Pointed Needles US #5 /3.75 mm
2 oz. /57gms 183 yards/167 meters Soft baby acrylic yarn (Category 3 DK Weight: Light Worsted Yarn UK/Australia approximate equivalent: DK “Double Knit”)

Hat 

With Strait Needles

Cast on;
Preemie 52 (Newborn 60, 0-3 Months 68, 3-6 Months 8-76) stitches.
Ribs; Knit 2, Purl 2 for:
8 (11, 12, 14) rows
Stokinette: Knit 1 row, Purl 1 row, for:
5.5”/14 cm (6”/15 cm, 6.5”/16.5 cm, 7”/18 cm)
Finishing;
Cast off all stitches.
Sew back of hat.
Fold and pin top in 4 parts (see picture). Sew.
Make and sew 4 pompoms.
Fold brim.

Hat 

With Double Pointed Needles

Cast on;
Preemie 52 (Newborn 60, 0-3 Months 68, 3-6 Months 8-76) stitches.
Attach to knit in round.
Ribs; Knit 2, Purl 2 for:
8 (11, 12, 14) rows
Stokinette: All Knit for:
5.5”/14 cm (6”/15 cm, 6.5”/16.5 cm, 7”/18 cm)
Finishing;
Cast off all stitches.
Fold and pin top in 4 parts (see picture). Sew.
Make and sew 4 pompoms.
Fold brim.
