Material:

2, 5oz  Bernat softee baby (3ply)

Crochet size G

1 removable marker for hat

BLANKET (about 26"X 26"finished)

-Chain 92

-1^st row:  Sc in 2^nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn

-2^nd row:  Ch1, sc in front loop in each sc across, until last stitch, 1 regular sc (in front & back loop); turn

-Repeat 2^nd row for 90 rows.

CROCHET BORDER: 

(regular sc using “front and back” loops)

1^st round:  Turn;  ch1, 2 sc in 1^st corner, 1 sc in each stitch around all sides, crocheting 3 sc in each corner, join with a slip stitch

2nd round:  Ch2, 2 dc in 1st corner, 1 dc in each stitch around all sides, crocheting 3 dc in each corner, join with a slip stitch

3^rd round: (crab stitch or reverse single crochet) Ch1, 1 reverse single crochet around all sides, join with a slip stitch and fasten off weaving in end.

Crab Stitch or Reverse Single Crochet: 
Working left to right, insert the hook in the first stitch to the right under the loops exactly the way you usually do a single crochet - difference is in the direction in which you are working the row.

Work In Back Loop until cuff

.2 sc in each stitch = 12 (place marker in front of 1^st chain to be work.  Move down the marker as you work)

1-*1 sc in stitch, 2 sc in next stitch* repeat  from = 18 stitches

2-*2 sc in stitch, 2 sc in next stitch* repeat  from = 24 stitches

3-*3 sc in stitch, 2 sc in next stitch* repeat  from = 30 stitches

4-*4 sc in stitch, 2 sc in next stitch* repeat  from = 36 stitches

5-*5 sc in stitch, 2 sc in next stitch* repeat  from = 42 stitches

(Newborn only)

6-(*6 sc, 2 sc in next* repeat = 48)

HAT

1 sc in each until work measure 5.25” (5.75”)

CUFF

Work In Front Loop

1 sc in each for 5 (7) rounds

BORDER TURN

Ch1, 1 reverse single crochet in each stitch to the end .  Join with a slip stitch and fasten off weaving in end.
