MATERIAL: 
3 ply Acrylic soft baby yarn
Needles #5, Strait or Double Pointed




With Strait Needles 
-Cable Cast on very loosely 60 sts .
“Cast on very loose or use bigger size needles”
1-8- Ribs; knit 2 sts, purl 2 sts
PATTERN 9-10-11-12-
9- KNIT
10- KNIT
11-*K1, P1*around
12-*K1, P1*around
9-36- Work this 4 rows pattern 7 times
DECREASE:
37-*Knit 8, Knit 2 together* repeat from = 54 sts
38-*Knit 7, Knit 2 together* repeat from = 48 sts
39-* K1, P1*  repeat from
40-* K1, P1*  repeat from
41-*Knit 6, Knit 2 together* repeat from = 42 sts
42-*Knit 5, Knit 2 together* repeat from = 36 sts
43-* K1, P1* repeat from
44-* K1, P1* repeat from
45-*Knit 4, Knit 2 together* repeat from = 30 sts
46-*Knit 3, Knit 2 together* repeat from = 24 sts
47-* K1, P1* repeat from

Finishing:
Cut yarn leaving a long end (20 inches). Draw end through the remaining stitches, one at a time, and take them off the knitting needle. Pull tail tight and secure.
Using the long tail, seam hat together matching hat ridges. Weave in ends.
With Double Pointed 
-Cable Cast on very loosely 60 sts (20-20-20). “Cast on very loose or use bigger size needles”
Join to knit in round.
1-8- Ribs; knit 2 sts, purl 2 sts (8 rounds)
PATTERN 9-10-11-12- 9- PURL
10- KNIT
11-*K1, P1*around
12-*K1, P1*around
9-36- Work this 4 rows pattern 7 times
DECREASE:
37-*Purl 8, Purl 2 together* repeat around = 54 sts
38-*Knit 7, Knit 2 together* repeat around = 48 sts
39-* K1, P1* around
40-* K1, P1* around
41-*Purl 6, Purl 2 together* repeat around = 42 sts
42-*Knit 5, Knit 2 together* repeat around = 36 sts
43-* K1, P1* around
44-* K1, P1* around
45-*Purl 4, Purl 2 together* repeat around = 30 sts
46-*Knit 3, Knit 2 together* repeat around = 24 sts
47-* K1, P1* around
48-* K1, P1* around
49-*Purl 2, Purl 2 together* repeat around = 18 sts
50-*Knit 1, Knit 2 together* repeat around = 12 sts

Finishing:
Cut yarn leaving a tail (8 inches) and thread tail through the remaining stitches, one at a time, and take them off the knitting needle. Pull tail tight by the inside of the work, turn work on wrong side.
Secure tails by making a knot with the darning needle. Weave in ends.
